Take advantage of your leisure to catch up on some reading! Our choice this year: Hamnet<\/em> <\/strong>by Maggie O\u2019Farrell, to be discussed on March 29th, 2025.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Maggie O\u2019Farrell\u2019s novel Hamnet<\/em> <\/strong>offers a lyrical exploration of a family\u2019s grief following the death of William Shakespeare\u2019s son, Hamnet, in 1596 at the age of 11. Rather than focusing on Shakespeare himself, the story centres on his wife, Agnes, a woman with unusual gifts, and their family in Stratford as they navigate this tragedy. Set in Warwickshire <\/strong>in the 1580s<\/strong>, the novel portrays their life with their three children\u2014Susanna and twins Hamnet and Judith\u2014and subtly connects Hamnet\u2019s loss to the creation of the play Hamlet<\/em> four years later.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
