September 26th – 10 am<\/strong>: \u201cFlowering Judas\u201d by Katherine Anne Porter (1890-1980)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n


In this session, we will delve into Katherine Anne Porter\u2019s \u201cFlowering Judas\u201d (1930), a
psychologically intense short story set in revolutionary Mexico. At its centre is Laura, a young
American caught between her ideals and the disturbing reality she inhabits. Through
disillusionment, moral paralysis, guilt and self-betrayal, Porter explores the difficulty of acting
in a world where familiar values no longer seem to apply. We will also examine the story\u2019s
powerful religious and sexual symbolism, and the ways in which Porter transforms Laura\u2019s
inner conflict into a haunting psychological experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

associations and we discuss them on the date we meet on Zoom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
