Summer Reading: Trust by Hernán Díaz

Dive into Trust this summer, capture your reflections as you read, and join the APRIR Reading Group online for an enriching, conversation-filled session in March

Trust by Hernán Díaz is a captivating literary puzzle that explores wealth, power, and the slippery nature of truth. Through a series of competing narratives surrounding a mysterious Wall Street tycoon and his reclusive wife, the novel exposes how money shapes stories, relationships, and reality itself. As one woman attempts to untangle fact from fiction, Trust invites readers on a thrilling journey across decades, revealing the deceptions and manipulations that lie beneath great fortunes.

Note: Trust is available on paper from local bookshops.

Hernán Díaz (1973) is an Argentine-American writer whose two acclaimed novels—In the Distance (2017) and Trust (2022)—both originally written in English—have earned major literary recognition. Born in Buenos Aires and raised partly in Sweden, Díaz later studied in London and New York, where he completed his PhD. His work has been translated into dozens of languages, and he has received honours such as a Whiting Award and a Guggenheim Fellowship. He lives in Brooklyn with his family.
